The Danish Chess Association of the Blind

Founded 19th November 1961.

The Danish Chess Association of the Blind, "Danmarks Blindeskak", in short D.B.

Welcome to the official web pages of D.B.

D.B. was founded in 1961 by Knud Klausen (1924-2000) for a group of blind and visually impaired persons. Only blind and visually impaired people manage D.B.

The superior authority of the organisation is the president, Erik Bremer, mail address: erik.bremer@privat.dk, plus 3 other members. From the very beginning, D.B. has been active internationally. We have provided teams for the Olympic Games, participated in World- and European Championships, and several times been reigning Nordic Master for teams.

D.B. is a dynamic organisation that wishes to offer members and visiting players efficient tournaments and the best chess facilities. We see chess as a good hobby as well as a serious fighting game. In chess everybody is equal - blind and sighted people compete on equal levels, and friendships and social connections are formed, something D.B. price highly.

D.B. has through the years been economically supported by The Danish Association of the Blind, which has made it possible for blind people to cultivate the noble art of chess, and also made it possible to play against blind people from all over the world.
